Hola! I’m Mahshid!
I'm a Research Fellow at WMG, University of Warwick in the Secure Cyber Systems Research (SCSR) group. I got my PhD in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick focusing on the security of payment systems, particularly contactless payment. Additionally, I hold an MSc in Software Engineering (IoT Systems) from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, and a BSc in Software Engineering from Semnan University, Iran. My passion lies in hands-on system security, tackling real-world challenges. My research interest is payment system security and IoT systems security, including smart home energy management, autonomous vehicles, and Internet of Vehicles (IoV) security.

- December 2023: Defended PhD viva successfully.
- October 2023: Started Research Fellow position at WMG, Warwick University, working with Prof. Carsten Maple and Prof. Gregory Epiphonia.
- September 2023: Submitted PhD thesis “on the security of contactless payment systems”.
- September 2023: Attended and presented at FOSAD summer school, Bertinoro, Italy.
- August 2023: Won Best Student Paper Award for the paper Security Analysis of mobile Point-of-Sale (mPoS) Terminals at 17th International Conference on Network and System Security (NSS), Universitry of Kent, Canterbury, UK.

- December 2022: Won Best Presentation Award at the Warwick Postgraduate Colloquium in Computer Science (WPCCS) Conference, “Computer Security and Network” track, WPCCS’22.

- August 2021: Our paper OPay: an Orientation-based Contactless Payment Solution Against Passive Attacks published at ACSAC’21.
- June 2021: Completed SEED Workshop’21, a 10-week training bootcamp based on Seed Labs, Online.
- February 2021: Our paper Joint Peak Clipping and Load Scheduling Based on User Behavior Monitoring in an IoT Platform won the best paper award in the department of computer science, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran.
- December 2020: Won Best Presentation Award at the Warwick Postgraduate Colloquium in Computer Science (WPCCS), “Computer Security and Network” track, WPCCS’20.
- December 2020: Won the 1st place in Capture the Flag (CTF) Group Competition (Trinity) at ACE-CSR Winter School.
- May 2020: our paper Joint Peak Clipping and Load Scheduling Based on User Behavior Monitoring in an IoT Platform published at IEEE Systems Journal.
- November 2019: Started PhD in Computer Science at University of Warwick, under the supervision of Prof. Feng Hao.

- September 2016: Started Msc degree in Software Engineering (IoT Systems) at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM), Iran.
- August 2016: Won the 35th placr in the Finals of the 21st National Computer Science Olympiad Competition.
- May 2016: Won 5th place in Semi-finals of the 21st National Computer Science Olympiad Competition.
- April 2016: Graduated from BSc degree in Software Engineering with distinction (top student).
